Moving house this year means that we're not bringing the holidays into our home.
Since our Home is Under Construction, we're making merry with a lot of Christmas and Holiday themed tv and movies, drinking a ton o' cocoa, and enjoying the simplier things of the holiday season - games, books, the radio and planning for next year, when we (I?) can do Christmas "right" next year. . .
So far, the list includes:
-putting our holiday houses - I have 26+ Hallmark houses that make a Town (Merryville)
-more lights outside - we should have landscaping and hopefully shrubbry to support the larger sized Christmas lights
-a tree!
-Stockings and the Menorah at the fireplace
-Wreath on the door... this year, we have a jelly cling Menorah (which IS cool)
What we WILL have that are traditions I hold near and dear...
-chocolate oranges
-new books
-screenings of A Santa Claus, Elf, A Christmas Story and It's a Wonderful Life
The new traditions I can't wait for...
-Christmas dinner with my BBF and her family on Christmas Day
-Maine for a few days with Sparky again
-Turkey dinner on Christmas Eve with Sparky, her sister + 1 and Nephew
-A joint holiday card with Sparky
It IS the most wonderful time of the year!

Sort of like voluntarily entertaining the Grinch: Downsizing, simplifying, etc. It'll be interesting to see what you resurrect! Chocolate is always good, though.
